ASTM B619/B619M is the primary specification for Hastelloy welded pipe. It covers welded pipe made from nickel and nickel-cobalt alloys and includes UNS N10276 (C276) and UNS N06022 (C22). The specification includes requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment, welding, dimensional requirements, and applicable testing.
Hastelloy C276 (UNS N10276) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to both oxidizing and reducing environments. It is widely selected for severe chemical processing, pollution control, flue gas desulfurization, and other applications involving aggressive corrosive media.
Hastelloy C22 (UNS N06022) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to oxidizing and non-oxidizing environments, pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. It is particularly suitable for process systems exposed to chlorides and other aggressive chemicals.

The choice between C276 and C22 should be based on the process medium, operating temperature, chloride concentration, oxidizing conditions, corrosion mechanism, and project specifications. Neither grade should be considered universally superior for every corrosive environment.
Applications
Hastelloy welded pipe is commonly used in:
Chemical processing plants
Petrochemical and refining facilities
Flue gas desulfurization systems
Pollution control equipment
Acid processing and chemical transportation
Marine and offshore systems
Wastewater treatment
Pharmaceutical and specialty chemical processing
Heat exchangers and process equipment
Corrosive fluid and gas transportation
Why choose Hastelloy welded pipe?
Hastelloy welded pipe combines the corrosion resistance of nickel-based alloys with the manufacturing flexibility of welded pipe. It is particularly suitable for large-diameter and customized piping systems where resistance to aggressive chemical environments is critical.
Central Steel supplies Hastelloy C276 and C22 welded pipe according to applicable ASTM requirements, with customized dimensions, heat treatment, surface conditions, inspection, and documentation available according to project requirements.
